Katla Track Ice Cave Tour

Háigardur Vik >> Katla Track Ice Cave Tour

We booked a half day Ice Cave Tour with Katla Track and the meeting point is just walking distance from our accomodation last night. Our guide AJ, brought us into the glacier with a super jeep! Driving in requires skill and he proved it without getting his wheels stucked. We were the first group in and yay! We have the cave to ourselves! The walk in is easy and the guide showed us the GEM of Iceland. The one and only place on earth with blue black glacier! At the end of the tour, he even drove us so close to the coastline to see the scary yet exciting waves. Recommended!!!

AJ drove us along the coastline and we didn't expect this! The wave got so near us and we screamed before we gotten this video shot! It was an awesome experience!!!

Katla Track Ice Cave Tour is highly recommended! It's worth every penny!

Before we pickup our car from accomodation

We came at a wrong time. There's a bunch of school kids who came 5 minutes before us and they sit just right in front of the main door. Awly have to pose there just to cover them up!

Fjaðrárgljúfur

Háigardur Vik >> jaðrárgljúfur

We went back to our accomodation to pick up our car and head to Fjaðrárgljúfur.

Fjaðrárgljúfur is a magnificent and massive canyon, about 100 meters deep and about two kilometres long. It is an easy hike but the route is muddy plus icy. Do bring along your crampons. Mama Eileen did an excellent job that night coz she helped to scrub our muddy shoes. So loved!

After this, we check in to our nice cottage house at Skaftárhreppur!
